Educational Values:

I can not remember a time when music was not a part of my life. Always present was the haunting beauty of my mother's flute ensembles or my father's symphonic records blasting while his arms danced with a maestro's flourish. Music's escape was always a joy in our household. But it wasn't until 2001, when I set foot in my first classroom, a shaking Mary Washington senior, that I truly felt at home.

Since my college graduation in 2002, I have been teaching vocal music, drama, dance and private piano lessons from either my home, within the public schools, or in private studios. My philosophy is simple: empart joy. Be it joy in accomplishment or simply the joy of enhancing life through expression, I strive with every student to help them find their own passion and fulfillment in the performing arts. My techniques vary and are based on a student's performance wants and needs. I can help you write your rock-a-billy album today and tomorrow accompany your dramatic Italian aria. I can coach your Shakespearian monologue and tweek that buck time step you've been working on for the school musical.

I teach vocal music, acting, beginning ukulele, and beginning and intermediate piano from my home studio in Short Pump, and also offer in-home lessons for your convenience (see Services and Classes tab for rates). I am a founding member and the Managing Director of YoungCastle Theatre Collective. If you are interested in lessons, classes or coaching opportunities, please send me a message via my CONTACT page. First lessons/meet and greets are always free! Lets make some music together!
